and this is the voice that God gave each one of us.

Mister Rogers: Fred, Ann, just Fred. We are each only ourselves. We have nothing else – and there is nothing better.
When I said “I like you just the way you are,” to my young viewers, I meant exactly that. I am in awe of the magnificence of the individual soul. Each of us has treasure beyond description in our own deep recesses, precious and unique gifts offered only to us. It is these that we want to explore so that we can bring what God has offered us to ourselves and those around us.
Sometimes these gifts are not understood and may be received with confusion, even ridicule or outright hostility. Still there is a voice inside us that refuses to be silenced even though we may bow to expedience or the desire to belong. That voice knows who we are, and it will not be silenced without consequences, for it speaks the truth, our truth and none other.
So it is important for you to recognize that voice as yours and develop its strength, its timber and its range. Your voice is your essence and, if heeded, your best guide in navigating this life. It may suggest outlandish ventures such as a children’s TV show with an unlikely host speaking directly to children in his own unusual, and to some lights, not particularly attractive voice. But from that voice came others who also became emboldened to be who they are.
I say again. I like you just the way you are, because no one has ever seen your like nor will again. What does your voice say to you? Where does is suggest you go? With whom are you guided to communicate?
We are bounded by many restrictions in this society and conforming to society’s norms can seem to stifle your special voice, but it need not be so. Listen first. Is it an angry voice? Why? Who and what has hurt you? Is it a voice with big ideas or little ones which are just as important?
Listen to what it tells you and pictures will emerge which will show you a way to use what these voices are teaching you. When you can see where these voices want to take you to make life better, then your voice is not just for you and is ready for prime time.
These are the treasures in your soul, the lessons of this life to help you recognize your true self. Go deep, find your spiritual source and allow that voice to resonate within your being to realize what only you can offer in this lifetime.
Exploring the treasure in your own soul is a life’s work. Carry it out with kindness and respect for the unique being that you are, and those qualities will come through everything you do no matter how constrained or ebullient your circumstances. The joy of creation shines through when you become yourself, and in the process others are encouraged to do the same.
Take a moment now to be still and let your unique blessings rise up in you and bring a smile to your face. Who in your life has seen your precious being and helped you along? What have you learned from them?
You are is what God created, and He called it good.
