Oops!
So here I am, chugging away at the day when a stray thought or impulse crosses my mind, and, WHAMO! nothing is right. This is what Anita* calls “tilted.” It’s a good word, because when you’re tilted, nothing feels right, and anything that comes at you gets an unbalanced response because you can’t quite figure out how to get up off the ground.
So what I want to know is, where did that thought/impluse come from, who sent it, and can I send it back?
Richard: Well, of course, love, we have a 30 day return policy, no questions asked. All you have to do is click your heels together three times, say Abracadabra! and Bob’s your uncle.
Ann: Richard…
Richard: Well, maybe it’s not that simple but pretty much. Many people say that when a bell has been rung, you can’t un-ring it, but nothing could be further from the truth. In actuality the heart which reaches for God can discipline itself to recognize and banish these unwanted intrusions.
When Aunt Sally (or your mother or father or anyone else living or dead) comes to visit and gives you a look that says, “I always knew you wouldn’t amount to much,” and you descend into that childhood valley where “You never do anything right,” “Who do you think you are?” or some variation on that theme is the ubiquitous refrain, you need to call in the troops.
Specifically, you need to delve deeper into your spiritual practices to refute these untruths that were so devastating to you at one time or another. Repeat your affirmations as a mantra. I like Anita’s, “Divine Light of the Highest Power under the Protection of Archangel Michael,” but the old standby, “Help me!” is also quite reliable.
What is happening in these stomach lurching elevator drops from OK to not-OK is that the devil has got your number and slithered in to cause trouble by insinuating doubt into your spiritual connections. When that happens, you can crash in full fight.
So you need to broaden your vocabulary and shore up your defenses. Our world is undergoing a major shift, and in this turbulence we are more susceptible to undertows so it is time to get your ducks in a row.
Put out alerts to catch these shifty little intruders at the gate, line up your affirmations, your sage, your crystals, and your protective spray,** whatever works for you. As many strategists have noted, the best way to win a war, other than frontal assault, is treachery and that’s what these derailing thoughts or impulses amount to.
So upgrade your radar systems, man your battle stations, flick that devil off your shoulder, and rejoin the army of light workers. We need every one of you.
