When you see horror and destruction, look for its opposite, and
join forces as best you can from where you are sitting.
Ann: Bobby?
Bobby: Yes. I see that many of you rather feel like you are drowning. I come today to offer my two cents worth on opposites, things which can’t be possible at the same time but which nevertheless are.
We are living in the land of opposites now - the powerful riptide trying to pull our country and its democratic stalwarts out to sea opposing the increasingly clear eyed view of who we are and what we stand for.
I know many of you are discouraged, but I see the tug of war of opposites as a great blessing. No longer are forces whispering on the sidelines to further the interests of some dark puppet master. Now their agenda is right out in the open.
As lies proliferate, many will fall victim, some because they are hearing what they want to hear, some because their fear level makes them give in to that rip tide before they can grasp its true nature.
We are seeing the forces of darkness at work which have always been there, just not as visible. Entire elements of our population were left in poverty to power the forces of an oppressive minority.
The shock and stunning revelation of Appalachian hunger and the grinding poverty of black populations revealed by my visits and the efforts of others were quickly glossed over by the media and those whose comfortable lifestyles did not want to be disturbed.
Now we have media that will keep the light shining just a bit longer, hopefully long enough for the next expose to gain traction. Many lights are now shining where heretofore censorship prevailed. Yes, martyrs have fallen in order to illumine the black lives that previously didn’t matter to many, but the genie is out of the bottle. An entire political party – and some not so affiliated – have been exposed.
The result is deepening horror, depression, and shock. Those who did not want to know cannot turn back the clocks and unsee the seen. The danger of fascism is out in the open, and its sleeping brothers and sisters who already swam beneath ostensibly placid currents of platitudes no longer have a free ride.
We must claim our status as opposite to these old and surprisingly well entrenched interests as they see their survival threatened by the mechanism of democracy which they had always been able to control. Their methods now are no longer compatible with any suggestion of a free and democratic society, so they have aimed their full forces at its destruction. Yet as they attack and reveal themselves in the process, the opposition gathers strength and momentum.
So when you see horror and destruction, look for its opposite, join forces as best you can from where you are sitting. The worms that have crawled out of the woodwork will not be able to crawl back in now that the light is shining on who they are, their names, their families, and most of all,, their lies.
It may not feel like it, but we are beginning to purge ourselves of these poisons so long hidden in our society, for they will not stand against that light.
