Abraham Lincoln: Blessed Are The Children

Ann: Good evening, Mr. President.

President Lincoln:* Hello Ann, it’s nice to connect with you this fine evening. And I wouldn’t be referring to the weather with that phrase but to the air of freshness that arises from having turned a difficult corner. Not that we can rest on our laurels. We need everyone to lend a hand as we try to dig out of the ruins of a very dark period, but now the energy is available for us to do so.

The first thing to do is to check in with our neighbors and friends, see how they are weathering the multiple storms that have beset this nation for the last several years and tend to their needs before our own.

Next, our children need our focused attention because they have been left to fall by the wayside as children often are when matters of life and death grip the country and it populace as it has for all of you for sometime now. No, there was not a war raging, but it lurked in the wings just waiting for a opportunity to start a conflagration - and that could still take place if we are not vigilant.

But here’s the thing: there isn’t anything more important than sitting down with that child of yours - or your neighbor's - and reading a story together, listening, laughing, letting that child know in a myriad of different ways that he or she is alright, not just in body but in soul.

Now I know that many of you have crushing demands of your time, and your energy is at a premium, but, have you noticed, there’s a little extra zing going around in the ether, coming down to the planet to give a boost to the many mothers and fathers who have nothing left at the end of the day?

So take a little break and then see what you might be able to notice about the young people around you because noticing them is vital for their souls, yes, but ours also because these young people are the next generation in waiting.

And while you’re at it give yourself a pat on the back for what you’ve accomplished in these dark times now that you can see the clouds lifting, if not right in front of you, then on the horizon. Every generation faces challenges.

You have seen yours, and you are meeting it. You will be proud of how you handled it, and your children will have a mantra for the future when they reach their own dark periods as is inevitable in this world. They will remember that their parents steered us out of this crisis, that they stayed steady, and that the world was still there when they all climbed out of the hole.

And that’s a gift to fill up all of the beaches on heaven’s shore, so try to remember that it was yours to give, and you gave it.

I had a thought about COVID and children yesterday. They are reporting that children don’t spread to virus to others or don’t seem to do so. Think about that! The loving universe designed a virus where children are not responsible for hurting others. That seems like the perfect plan by God. How else would He design a pandemic? Like that. I was totally amazed by God thinking of the innocence of children and how to protect them. I love God!

Ann and Abe, thank you so much for telling us “you can see the clouds lifting” on a day with the 205,000 new cases, the deadliest day with 3,157 passing, and over 100,000 hospitalizations for the first time. This information could not be more welcome, knowing we are not factoring in the Thanksgiving super spreader when millions traveled. The suffering in the coming months from this pandemic and the juvenile behavior of 45 is very concerning. We can use your soothing encouragement to guide us through the most difficult time in the public health history of our nation.💝
