Jesus: What Do You Truly Desire?

Ann: Jesus, I heard from Anita that you asked, “What do you truly desire?” The question has reverberated with me in odd moments and the answers keep changing according to mood and circumstance. Would you be kind enough to speak about this?

Jesus: Of course. You have pulled the Perthro rune,* a symbol using the image of a dice cup to signify the movement of cosmic order, not in a rigid construct but as a living organism. Each of you comprise a critical part of that movement and can choose to extend that flow or create impediments.

Understand, my friends, that impediments do not affect the creative flow of Yggdrasil, Great Spirit, or whatever name you use for the Creative Force. Such resistance simply creates a little pool, an eddy if you will, off the main current which one way or another will eventually make its way back to the mother stream.

When I ask, “What is it that you truly desire?” I am suggesting that you take inventory of your internal landscape. I watched with somewhat unholy amusement as Ann did so while driving in her car late for an appointment. As I recall, it went something like this:

“What do I desire, hmmm….

  • A chocolate milkshake with chocolate ice cream and extra chocolate syrup.

  • A place of peace.

  • A road where the incredibly slow driver in front of me will turn off and get out of my way.

  • To feel and radiate the light shining through my windshield.

  • To be in touch with those who understand so I can understand too.

  • To have someone fix the broken air conditioning in my car, or, alternatively, a break in this heat wave.

  • To have a wand to wave to eliminate suffering. I don’t understand…..

  • Shit, shit, shit, not to triple book appointments like I just did.

  • To love myself and others and to really feel that love coming from my creator, not just hear the words.

  • To have some honor and accountability from those in power – and those who want to claim that power.

  • To live in joy forever.

  • To go home, read my murder mystery, and disappear.

Ann: Very cute. Easy to see that I am not quite in the flow and fighting it all the way in between bursts of ecstasy and connection that uplift my heart. What the hell are we doing down here anyway?

Jesus: Ann, we are teaching ourselves through a crucible of freely chosen separation that we desire, not simply a chocolate milkshake or relief from suffering, but the reality of our eternal and unshakable connection with Spirit, that nothing else matters.

Acceptance and adherence to the great spiritual truth of God’s love, even in the face of all evidence to the contrary, that is what we desire, for that is knowledge, not theology or proselytizing, but experience. Experience is the only thing that teaches and on this planet we learn by hard won experience. Yes, the lessons are excruciatingly harsh, but, in equal measure, the rewards are great.

Keep making those lists, then focus on that which truly feed you, not your book or your chocolate, but the soul deep connection with Spirit and her emissaries of which I am one.

Look for the real teachers, the one who allow themselves to suffer and who share their burdens with you and take yours as their own. This is the connection we desire, for this is of God.
