Ann: Hi Miriam.*
Miriam: Hello, Ann. I have been wanting to speak with you and your readers because, as I know, it is very hard to watch mob mentality threaten to take over your world and your loved ones. Nothing is more frightening because a mob moves on its own recognizance not checking in with any exterior point of reference. Its reach knows no bounds and its moral compass, if any of its members have ever been in touch with such, is completely disabled.
Once the mob passes through, it leaves complete destruction in its wake. It is powered by fear and leaves fear vibrating in the air when it departs. And not just the fear that makes us want to hide or run away, but the fear that turns to anger and a thirst for revenge.
So it becomes important, nay, critical for each of us to take a look at what has been triggered in our own soul by the mob. If you have felt unbalanced in the last several days, I would like to offer my help in taking back your center.
First, let us look at the fuel that powers the universe. And let us be clear: centrally, on every street corner, and eternally with us through our lives and beyond is the love of our Creator for each little diamond of creation. And by that I mean each one of you, each a diamond unique in structure and essence, but created out of the same unconditional love that has powered every other evolving element of the universe.
So you say, then what is going on here? What powers the mob? These people don’t look as if they would know love if it took them by the hand. And that is true, but not because love is absent, but because they have been consumed by fear.
Fear is a secondary emotion. Fear powers survival of the fittest, and that makes sense for the animal kingdom, but in humans fear is what happens when we cut ourselves off from God. And, as we have seen in the storming of the Capitol, fear created the flammable rage of mob mentality that turned ordinary humans into rampaging terrorists.
And yet God understands how this happens. We have no further to look than the secession of the human race from the Kingdom of Heaven. When we choose other that complete trust in God, we became unmoored from our Holy Anchor and now sail rudderless from port to port searching for what we decided to leave behind.
Surely the parents among you have seen your children enact this scene in a thousand different variations. We are not different than these children because we are children of God.
And the remedy is the same. Chose God, chose, hope, choose love. Every time. Do not falter. In every situation, no matter how dire - and you will allow that I know what I am talking about there - choose love. It is always there if you look carefully.
To be clear, I am not suggesting that we foolishly let mobs and their misguided components roam unrestricted through our streets. Confinement is required, for there are consequences to stepping so far out of line. Allowing destruction is not a part of love.
Love is the powering force both in reaching out and in holding firm. It is the force that asks us to review our decisions, then, if necessary, restructure out lives, hold someone in check, or come to the aid of one who has gone astray.
The critical element is not to react in anger, for then your soul moves over into darkness, and then you will be the one who will have to figure out how to climb out of that hole.
As you go through the turbulent days ahead, look always to decipher whether you are reacting in fear or responding in love. Cleave to the latter, and you will find your strength and health increase incrementally until it becomes something you can count on, something that you know will feed you when mob mentality threatens to take you down.
