It is for each of us to strive for balance.
Ann: Hi Merlin, though I heard you here and Anita* says you want a word.
Merlin: Indeed I do, Ann. I do enjoy an irreverent spirit. It allows one to see things that others miss since very little uncontested credence is given to much of anything.
That may work well in some instances, but more helpful is the ability to listen as I believe Miriam has suggested. We in spirit are quite cognizant of the many demands of those of you "caught... in the net of life and time,"** and, in turn, appreciate that you are respectful of the energy required of us to break through your consciousness. If we have done so, you have made a decision to allow this to happen, and for that, all of us are grateful.
Many of you are in process of balancing the demands of ordinary life which requires a certain level of skepticism to get from Point A to Point B and not be distracted by harebrained ideas from any Tom, Dick, or Harry. If at the same time you continue to offer an open channel to spirit, you must confine it to some extent in order to make your way in the world as per Point A.
This is all well and good, and we enjoy your progress and, even, I must say, some of your setbacks when you are able to find the humour in some of the havoc that open access to spiritual channels can sometime wreak on worldly endeavours.
One of the Point B exercises is to weed out those who access your channel without your permission and without concern for your best interests. Here is where magic comes in. There are many spells that you can learn to address this problem, among them, spiritual incantations ( the Lord’s Prayer is a familiar one and others have been offered here) and the developing ritual of casting a circle,*** all good tools for returning yourself and your sacred space to center. Here is another one.
When you feel unease in your center, when one or more gremlins, either living or dead, threaten to enter your space come into view, replace them with a delightful creature of your own imagination.
I see, Ann, that Bumble, the Abominable Snowman from the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer comes to your mind, does he not? And in spite of his many troubles, he and his compatriots discover that Bumbles Bounce!
And, once immersed in this delightful image, so do you bounce away from any energy that wants to lower your vibrations. Bumble bounces you right on up to his increasingly high frequency!
There are many such images that can be deployed as entertaining defenses against negative thoughts or energies. The varieties are endless, and always, always a smile and a laugh will turn the tide because we are naturally inclined to receive and treasure that which is of the light, that which allowed us to learn and grow without automatically dialing over to an unbalanced setting.
It is for each of you to strive for balance. Before you know it you will find yourself, not simply moving freely between your world and the next, but actually walking in both at the same time with fluency in the language of each.
For now we simply ask that you become more aware, aware of our presence and our requests for time with you, but also aware when lower energies may be knocking at the door.
These are the tools that will stand you in good stead as you navigate your time on this planet and bring you closer to the very real partnership that is the connection between heaven and earth.

For full disclosure, I find Merlin an amazing teacher and friend. In his message today I found comfort in these words:

In particular, "either living or dead" felt real to me for as an empath the gremlins of the living can cause havoc. I am grateful for his teachings of protection. My gratitude to him and to Ann for this message.
