What is the difference between a reasonable request and pushing to the head of the line? I often feel I have been too grabby - face it, I'm a lawyer, we tend to grab.... So, after calling to complain about a medical appointment which was changed without notice to me, I asked Richard where this fell on the spectrum between ok and pushy.
Ann: Richard, would you please talk to me about this? Did I do the right thing by calling? Is it my ego demanding special treatment?
Richard: Love, you do not have to apologize for taking up space on the planet. Making a request is not elbowing the competition aside. Once again we come to one of the fundamental issues of life, the understanding that each person is valuable in his or her own right, not more, nor less than anyone else, but on a true level playing field.
If you are the one whose time needs to be moved, that is what will happen. If not, someone else whose schedule is more flexible will be moved. And by the way, it is not everyone who would be upset or inconvenienced by a delay.
I am delighted that you have come here to vent your frustration and also your easily tripped guilt for knowing how to function on the planet. My dear, that is one of your learning experiences, it is not a a crime or a moral infraction to take care of yourself and your loved ones.
When you feel anxiety in this regard, sit with that anxiety. Let it percolate and settle in various slots that expose its truth or lack of veracity. Look up, raise your consciousness above your body and tap into the jet stream that always circulates around you and everyone on the planet.
Trust me, it is always there. Yggdrasil, Great Mother, Great Spirit, or Abba, they are all the same, the ever evolving creative force powered by love. It is in connection with this force that you will find your center, your resting place, and your faith that all things happen for good.
The type of anxiety you describe is triggered when your center is located in your nervous system rather than your spiritual essence. So here, love, is the task. Reach for Spirit, not your earthly companions no matter how loyal and loving. We all need a higher source in which to anchor our souls.
When you pray to Spirit, whatever you may call him or her, simply ask, “Please let me be at home in your love.” Pretty soon you will find that your being will be nourished from the inside out, and nothing external will upset your apple cart for very long.

Stay strong
That mantra, "let me be at home in your love" is so wonderful!
It took me awhile to learn to rely on Spirit [ and myself ] and not my earthly companions. Yes - no matter how loyal and loving they were [ or seemed to be ] . That was one of the best decisions of my life. Thank you so much Ann and Richard. Much Love to you both 💜💚💜
