You are fighting not just the patriarchs of today,
but the long line of them ranged behind the present grab for power.

Moses: Yes, I do, Ann. I want to talk to you about law. As you know I was the channel who transcribed the Ten Commandments.
I was not eager to do so, that I can tell you. There was much unrest in the community I was leading and much hardship. That, as you can see from today’s politics can translate into attacks on the status quo not matter how unreasonable.
I was afraid for my life and for the lives of my loved ones.
What I endured was much like Christ’s time in the desert, a time of hollowing out, a time where nothing could be hidden from Spirit, a time when my mortality became the foundation of my faith, for I knew that with my death Sprit would another way to lead us out of darkness.
What came were a set of principles couched in directive language to tell us where the lines in our society must be drawn.
Though perhaps somewhat out of touch today, with some revisions they still stand as a foundation for community living.
There is no community without strife, no community where one faction does not try to gain the upper hand over another. Our society was built on the principle that men were superior to women. It was an unquestioned principle. So when Spirit said, “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” it was meant to be applied across the board, but that was not what happened.
The remnants of that patriarchy are trying to make a comeback today. Under their rule, women will prevented from exercising dominion and control over their own bodies, while men are not held to account for the consequences of imprudent sexual behavior.
This uneven application of the law has been fostered over centuries in order to keep power in the minority. Power is not something anyone wants to give away, and men, being physically stronger, have held power over women for as long as this perversion of Christianity has been in existence.
You are fighting not just the patriarchs of today but the long line of them ranged behind the present grab for power. Law, in their hands is intended only to protect the powerful.
But this is a new day. The following is the one and only commandment for today:
Keep Spirit in your heart in all that you do.
Put your faith here and hold on. Nothing else will stand the test of time.
