Richard Burton: News Cycle Blues

Ann: Hi Guys, once again I am headed down hill after letting myself read the news and glimpse one of the 24 hour news channels. I know better but…

Richard Burton: Yes, Ann, a daily blackout followed by a quick dip in once a day just to be sure you haven’t missed anything will help the situation. I would suggest an internet blackout for a specified length of time, but not sure you up to that program yet.

Ann: I am too!

Richard: Excellent! And when do you plan to put it on the calendar?

Ann: You did that on purpose….

Richard: Well, under the time honored precept, “Know thy enemy...B.” Not, of course that you are the enemy but we can pretty much rely on your contrary response, can we not? Tell her she can’t do something, then watch her go…..

Now, now, don’t get your water hot, just having a little fun at your expense. Those of us in spirit must take our amusement where we find it. God knows, I’ve provided plenty of fodder for their entertainment.

But back to the subject at hand. When you let yourself sink down into daily news, it is very hard to maintain a balanced equilibrium. You and many others on the planet have opened to a higher vibration which, paradoxically, can make you more vulnerable to outside news because you are more open.

For that reason, your focus must be increasingly internal, the God Within, your refuge and your strength. Tune in several times a day, try to expand your listening, watching, and seeing abilities as you spend less time “hooked up” and more time focused on your internal compass and the immediate world around you.

Come to me. I have fallen of every wagon that ever rolled so I can help to keep yours moving. We are all learning, my friends.

And a great part of that learning is to receive and appreciate every morsel of joy, like this conversation, that comes to us, for this is what lives forever, not the ephemeral daily news.

Ann: Thank you, Richard, I am blessed.

Richard: As are we all.
