The Spiritual Warrior, Justice, Self-Sacrifice*
Auntie: Now you jes listen heah. Ain’t no cause for you crawling into some corner or hidin’ under the bed. We both better’n that. We done come this far, and this time we is gonna carry that flag all the way home. George should’na had to suffer like that, but he done it for all of us. He done it to show in no uncertain terms that we ain’t where we oughta be, that we cannot let it slide this time, and that, with all these new-fangled cameras, it’s gonna be nigh on impossible to whitewash this story.
George, he be fine and right here with me. We done fought together in the past, and we are part of the same army that is fightin’ right now. He hurts for his family, for his friends, and for all those that weep in their hearts for his loss. But this time and in so many times before it was necessary. Ask Mr. Lincoln. Ask Dr. King and those Kennedy boys.
We is coming up to a realization that we is all human and divine, both at the same time, and that we cain’t be separate and be anything at all. We is holy and we is sinful, and together that makes us human so now we gotta choose which one we gonna feed.
So go on and grieve, grieve for all that has been lost to human misery and pride, and then march, keep marchin’. This time it will be different, there will be a dawning of who we want to be. But it’s a choice and we’ve been given a right plain example of what it looks like to choose dark. So we better get to creatin’ what we want it to be instead, knowin’ that none of us is perfect and all of us in it together.
And yeah I know, better’n than most, that we ain’t never done that in this country before, and we’ve had lotsa chances. So, yeah, it’s an uphill climb, but George here has shown us what we are if we don’t take that hill, and he will be here with lots of others to help us make it that climb.
