Harriet Tubman: This Little Light...
Updated: Sep 20, 2021
Ann: Hey Auntie, you rang?*
Harriet Tubman: Sho’ did, you had yo' nose in a book and couldn’t hear fo’ nothing. I’sa comin’ to you like the mama I was, comin’ to you and all those folks out there who kinda gets down on theyselves and thinkin’ that they ain’t much good in this topsy turvy old world of ours.
Whats you gots to do is to go back to yo’ roots, go back and find that one person that loved you like you outta be loved, that didn’t ‘spect nothin’ of you ‘cept you to be yo’self cause if that’s good enough fo’ God, then it’s good enough fo’ any ole body.
You gots to remember what a miracle this old world is with all these different folk who’s all got the Godhead inside them. Every one been created by Him and his friends, every one has something holy inside. Sure ‘nough, some have lost it, maybe left it where the sun don’t shine, but it’s still there waitin’ fo’ a chance to come out.
So don’t you go worrin’ ‘bout them. You go look inside yo’ own heart and find that speck so’se you can fan it into a flame. Then, Lordy, you can walk around like Jesus hisself cause you be one of his own.
I seen a lot, good and bad, whilst I was on this earth, and I ‘magine it weren’t any worse than what you got now. You can live through it, shine through it, and change it iff’n’ you want to. You just gots to remember that you carryin’ the light. You stand back now and admire it! It be right pretty, and it’s all yours. It will keep you warm when you cold and show you where to go when it’s dark and you cain’t see.
Don’t you pay no ‘attention to those folks who might'a tole you you no good, you not enough, you not what you oughta be. You like God make you, and that’s ‘zactly what you oughta be.
Now go on out there an shine!
