Ann: Jesus?
Jesus: Yes, I broke in on your conversation with Anita** because I could feel you slipping down the rabbit hole of doubt, thinking supposedly rational queries, and starting to harbor the lies that have been used from time immemorial to throw spiritual seekers off the track.
Our brains do not house our souls. Our souls, as most of you could tell me from your own person experience, reside at the central core of our beings and are expressed through our heart-felt emotions.
This is why when someone dies, we offer “heartfelt condolences,” but we don’t really stop to think that what we are saying with these words is that your heart feels the sorrow of the bereaved occasioned by the absence of the departed. One heart says to the other, “I know your sorrow and I offer to be with you there.”
I need not go into what a brain might say under such circumstances because there would a tremendous silence. We simply cannot depend upon our brains to make connections with our fellows.
I don’t decry the usefulness of thought, planning, structure, and intelligence. It is simply a question of who is in charge. When you lead with your heart, all of your ducks will fall happily into their most comfortable rows.
So when you are confronted with an uneasy feeling, a snarky intent, the sarcastic comment or one sneaks under your guard, stop to notice that, no matter how clever, it is at its core unkind. Then go back to your heart. That is where you will find your Creator and the homecoming that we all long for. Take a moment to sit by this homecoming fire and then venture out with all parts in working order and in their proper alignment.
When you do that, don’t be surprised to feel a smile on your face.
