Lena requested that I ask Richard the following question which I did on her behalf. The following is what I heard and transcribed. She has some great questions, and she and Richard seem to click so the three of us hope to try this again, maybe a Richard and Lena column?
Can We Pick Who Greets Us In Heaven? **
Lena: Can we, on the other side, request to meet someone? While there might be many who want to speak to Jesus or Gandhi, I'm thinking is it possible - or does it simply not matter when you are beyond the veil? In my case I would like to meet with Anthony Bourdain*** (the thinking woman's crumpet) ...just joking, but you get the drift ...
Richard: Ah yes, indeed I do, and a fascinating drift it is, one to which many may relate.
While I am somewhat disappointed not to be included in that delicious and delightful class of the desired departed, I will take your question on the two levels that I believe it was intended.
First, can you call up some favorite and famous person from the past to greet you at the Pearly Gates?
Well, you can try, and given your connections and charm of manner, Lena, I wouldn’t bet against your chances of success. But in the common way, it is unlikely to happen in just that fashion, largely because, when it comes down to it, it is not these people who have touched our lives at our deepest levels.
There are, of course, exceptions. Jesus, I believe, must have more than full time employment as a Greeter In Chief, and there are no doubt many others in that same line of work.
But by and large we want and pray for those who have given our lives meaning, who have seen through to the heart of us and not been taken in by our various feints and dodges as we try to conceal our less attractive inclinations. These are the people and spirits who did not fall for our bag of tricks and, in seeing through our attempts to dissemble, reveal for us the magnificent beating heart of our unique creative souls.
It is ironic, is it not, that when we stop running and turn to face ourselves in Spirit’s mirror, we see something more wonderful than we could have imagined. The faults, frailties, and pitfalls that have claimed the bulk of our attention become so much flotsam and jetsam beside the shining reality of our unique iteration of our Creator’s love.
So that is a long winded way of saying that perhaps instead of Anthony, you might consider settling for your humble servant as a poor substitute?
Second, as to the question you did not ask but that everyone wants to know, yes, you will be reunited with the loved ones of your heart’s desire.

Hi Ann: As a journo, I am curious if there are any newspapers or any form of publication (!) on the other side. I mean, if rumours are to be believed, there are several universes, worlds and levels and how does every one get to know what is happening? I would love to start a newspaper once I am there. Some of my colleagues are already there 😥 and we would have a blast. Richard can write a column, something like 'Tales from Wales' or 'My tryst with Cleopatra...'
